Amid the covid situation, our lifestyles such as working from home and restrictions on going out have changed drastically and many are struggling with body shape changes due to this lifestyle. However, I still need to wear clothes everyday and wear it comfortably according to my body size.

This time, I would like to introduce some basic suit alterations here.

adjusting a suit can be divided into 3 main parts: hem, waist and sleeves.

Basically, the hem is divided into two types, the “Plain Bottom” type that does not show the fold up and the “Cuffed Bottom” type that show the fold up.

The “Plain Bottom” style has a neater shape, while the “Cuffed Bottom” style is more solid and can show off a classic look.

Next is the waist alterations, but be careful because there are pants that can and cannot fix the waist.

If the inside of the pants has excess fabric like in the picture, it can generally be fixed.

The last one is the sleeve. The cuffs can be divided into “real buttonholes” with real buttons to open or remove the sleeves, and “imitation buttonholes” with buttons only for decoration, both of which have their own advantages. When it comes to alterations, It’s easier to fix the “imitation buttonhole” sleeves because the button position can be moved. While altering the sleeves like a “real buttonhole”, moving the buttons is required to use a method known as “Shorten the sleeve”, shortening from the shoulder which is more difficult.
